GRAND HAVEN TWP. — State police trooper Marty Miller said officers collected seven shopping carts full of donations during the Stuff the Blue Goose campaign Sunday afternoon at the Grand Haven-area Walmart store.

“Considering the weather, I think we did very good,” Miller said. “I was very happy with it.”

Miller said the donations filled five banquet tables when spread out at The Salvation Army in Grand Haven.

The objective of the event was to fill the patrol cars — Blue Goose is what troopers call them — with new toys, clothing and non-perishable food. It is then turned over to The Salvation Army for distribution to families in need in Ottawa and Kent counties.

The Kent County event took place in Wyoming.
