Egging them on

Small ones scurried and they scooped at the Spring Lake Lions Club annual Easter egg hunt Saturday at Central Park.

Despite chilly temperatures and massive wind gusts, hundreds of kids participated in the plastic egg hunt.

Amanda Schuster said she enjoyed the Spring Lake hunt better than the “all ages” hunt she and her family participated in Saturday in downtown Grand Haven.

Many families left that event, sponsored by the Grand Haven Convention & Visitors Bureau, empty handed.

“This is so much better than yesterday,” Schuster said. “They were pretty excited to quickly get their eggs today.”

Schuster's son, Tony, 7, said his favorite part of the hunt was “that the eggs were right in front of me.”

On Friday, the Schuster family trekked for three hours at the Grand Haven “all ages” hunt without finding anything.

Allie Pickett of Spring Lake Township brought her 2-year-old daughter, Phoenix DeWall, to Saturday's Spring Lake egg event.

“”It's really fun to watch the kids run out there,” Pickett said. “The Lions Club really worked hard on this.”
