Steven Adams, 48, pleaded guilty to charges of operating while intoxicated and habitual offender third offense during a hearing Monday in Ottawa County Circuit Court. In exchange for his plea, driving without a license and fourth-offense habitual offender charges were dismissed.
Adams admitted to at least four prior drunken driving convictions, including ones in 1997 and 2008. He also was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2000 and prison escape in 1992, according to information read in the courtroom by Judge Jon Hulsing.
The latest incident occurred Aug. 9, 2017, on Miller Drive in Grand Haven. Adams said his blood alcohol level was 0.15 at the time. A person is considered legally drunk with a 0.08 level.
A sentencing date was set for Jan. 29.
