A 31-year-old Holland man pleaded guilty Monday to committing an armed robbery in August 2016.

Jeremy Beavers, 31, robbed a Dollar Tree store in Holland. He lived in Holland at the time but was located in the Rock County Jail in Wisconsin in the spring of 2017, where he was being held on unrelated charges. He was then transported to the Ottawa County Jail, where his bond was set at $250,000 cash surety.

Beavers was arraigned in Ottawa County Circuit Court in June 2017 and appeared again Monday to enter a guilty plea to committing an armed robbery and being a fourth-offense habitual offender.

Beavers used a BB gun during the robbery to get an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerks at the Dollar Tree just prior to the store closing for the night. He told the employee to give him additional money in the store office before fleeing on foot. Police used DNA evidence to identify him several months later.

Beavers is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Jon Hulsing on May 7. He faces two years in prison for armed robbery, but the fourth-offense habitual offender charge could increase his sentence to between 10 years, six months and 35 years. In the meantime, he remains at the Ottawa County Jail.
