OV school board to cut teacher pay by 5 pct.

Orchard View school board members said they plan to implement the cut in early February, even though negotiations continue with the teachers union.
Superintendent Pat Walstra said students and community members are counting on the board to make "wise financial decisions."
The board determined it needs $450,000 in concessions from the Orchard View Education Association. Bargaining began in spring 2012.
Walstra said the district is projecting a $480,000 fund balance at the end of this school year, after starting the year with $1.7 million.
Orchard View Education Association President Cheryl Lake could not be immediately reached for comment.
