CyberSchool set to expand

There are 16 students enrolled in the grade 7-9 program. The online school plans to add grades 10 and 11 for the 2013-14 school year.

The expansion is the result of freshman students who need to advance to the next grade level as well as additional inquiries for enrollment, Central High School Principal Paul Kunde, who is also principal of CyberSchool, said.

When the program started last fall, Kunde said they weren't sure what to expect.

CyberSchool Coordinator Kevin Berko said providing students with the flexibility to work at their own pace is one benefit of online classes.

Berko said staff has worked out kinks throughout the year, including a better flow of communication to students. Staff will continue to improve this part of the program into the next school year, he said.

“It’s been an interesting challenge,” Berko said.
