Turning nature into art

With sea shells, driftwood and twine set before them, about a dozen children created wind chimes Thursday afternoon at Grand Haven’s public library.

As children tied knots in the twine to hold the shells in place, nature artist Ron Taylor offered a helping hand and direction throughout the activity at Loutit District Library.

Throughout spring break week, McKayla Goossen and her family have done things such as seeing the new “Beauty and the Beast” movie and a ballet. McKayla, 9, and her younger sisters, Vaughn and Audrey, added making wind chimes to their list of vacation activities.

McKayla said she previously made a wind chime by using strings, washers, bells and beads.
