And remember: Winterfest is next weekend!

(1) Bloody Mary Mix-Off — Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Old Boys' Brewhouse, 971 W. Savidge St., Spring Lake. Area restaurants will mix and serve their best Bloody Marys for the public to vote on. There is also a slipper and pajama contest. It's a fundraiser for the summertime Spring Lake Heritage Festival. For details, click here.

(2) Winter Astronomy and Sky Viewings — 7 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Education Center at the Hemlock Crossings county park. For a map to get there, click here. The topic for this week's program is "Life Cycles of Stars." Find out how stars are born in stellar nurseries, then mature and die. The one-hour indoor program, for adults and older children, is conducted by the Shoreline Amateur Astronomical Association. It will be followed by an outdoor viewing session (weather permitting). Telescopes will be provided for the outdoor viewing. Bring a lawn chair, binoculars (if you have them) and dress warm. The program and outdoor viewing are free, and advance registration is not required.

(3) Suspicious Cheese Lords — 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hope College's Dimnent Memorial Chapel. The Suspicious Cheese Lords is an all-male a capella ensemble that sings the music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. It's part of the Hope College Great Performance Series. Tickets are $17 for adults, $13 for senior citizens, and $6 for students and anyone age 18 and younger.

(4) Karaoke — 7-11 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Post 2326, 20 N. First St., Grand Haven. Food will be served from 6-8 p.m. for $8. Sing your heart out, or sit back and enjoy some "stars."

(5) Evolution and Morality — 4-6:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 508 Franklin Ave., Grand Haven. Dr. Michael DeWilde will discuss the question of where human morality comes from. He is the director of the Business Ethics Center at the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. The presentation is free and open to the public.
