Top 5 things to do this weekend

Art will fill downtown Grand Haven all day Saturday and Sunday. And it's at the top spot of what to do this weekend, June 28-30.

(1) Grand Haven Art Festival and Family Fun Day — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on a closed-off Washington Avenue in downtown Grand Haven. There will be lots to see while you stroll on the street filled with an eclectic mix of original art, crafts and gift items, plus live music and kids activities. Admission is free. (2) Veterans Pinning Ceremony — 2 p.m. Friday at Four Pointes, 1051 S. Beacon Blvd., Grand Haven. Hospice of Michigan, several state lawmakers, and members of the Grand Haven VFW and American Legion posts will honor 40 Lakeshore veterans. The pinning is open to the public. World War II veterans representing the Navy, Army, Army Air Corps, Marines and Merchant Marines will be presented a certificate reflecting their branch of military service and a commemorative American flag pin honoring and thanking them for their military service. The ceremony will also include a special “Missing Man” ceremony honoring MIA/POW servicemen and candle-lighting ceremony honoring the sacrifice of family members of veterans. The service will conclude with “Taps” and a rifle salute by the VFW post, which will also display World War II memorabilia during the hour-long ceremony.

(3) Dedication of the Eula Wiley Outdoor Learning Center — 10 a.m. Saturday at Ferry Elementary School, 1050 Pennoyer Ave., Grand Haven. The center is a memorial for Eula Wiley, who was a playground assistant and crossing guard at Ferry. The Grand Haven woman died in 2012 at the age of 90. Family and friends will also release live butterflies.

(4) St. Mary’s School White Elephant Sale — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic School, 421 E. Exchange St., Spring Lake. The sale features electronics, books, movies, clothing, linens, bedding, furniture, children’s toys, games, housewares and kitchen appliances.

(5) Worship on the Waterfront — 7:30-8:45 p.m. Sunday at Waterfront Stadium. Josh Wilson performs this week. Wilson has made a mark on Christian music with his catchy and emotional songwriting, his heart for God, and his entertaining shows. WOW is sponsored by the First Reformed Church of Grand Haven.
