Coast Guard Festival Picnic honors families

“We have tried in the past two years to deliver family-focused entertainment that appeals to all ages,” Sjoberg said. “This year, we have expanded our options. Our goal is to honor Coast Guard families, as well as to provide our communities with a good time at an old-fashioned summer picnic.”

The picnic, which is hosted each year by the City of Ferrysburg, is part of the Coast Guard Festival.

Coast Guard Park on North Shore Drive in Ferrysburg is the venue for the event, which will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 27.

This year’s Coast Guard Festival honors the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the picnic will reflect that theme.

There will be free cake for everyone, as well as a wealth of activities and performances. These include Pat’s Ponies, Mary’s Country Critters Petting Zoo, Prevailing Winds Community Band, Ballet Folklorica Sol Azteca, Michelle’s Rescue, DJ the Clown, Officer Osbun and Zino – part of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, and kiddie games with prizes. All of these activities are free.

Food for purchase will be provided by Spring Lake Boy Scout Troop 37, led by Mark and Linda Trier. Coast Guard families will eat for free.

For information about the picnic, call the City of Ferrysburg at 616-842-5803.
