The festival runs from Friday through Sunday, featuring a mix of the area’s best blues bands and a chili cooking contest.
The weekend’s signature chili cookoff takes place Saturday at Snug Harbor, 311 S. Harbor Ave. Contestant registration and set-up begins at 10 a.m., with a noon shotgun start on the restaurant’s outdoor deck. The public is welcome and encouraged to cheer their favorite team to victory.
“Throughout the afternoon, there will be plenty of chili tasting, blues and beverages,” said Steve Loftis, owner of Harbor Restaurants.
Tickets for public chili sampling will be available starting at 3 p.m. The top three chilies and best Booth Showmanship, selected by a panel of judges, will be awarded at 5 p.m.
The event will also feature live blues music.
The longtime event is co-sponsored by Loftis and Greg Gilmore, owner of The Kirby House.
