The community holiday event is presented by the local Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber Ambassadors. This year’s parade has more than 80 festive entries, including decorated floats, musical groups, and a final entry of Santa and Mrs. Claus in their sleigh.
Kevin Galbavi will serve as this year’s grand marshal. Galbavi was honored this past May at The Chamber’s Annual Dinner as the 2017 Spirit of Community Award recipient, recognizing his devotion of time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community. His involvement includes serving as the chairman of Winterfest Inc.; as a member of Grand Haven Rotary Club, Save the Catwalk Committee, Spring Lake Yacht Club and 100 Men Who Care; and a past recipient of Star Volunteer from the local United Way. He lives in Grand Haven with his wife, Cara, and daughter, Sophia.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. and will travel west down Franklin Avenue to Harbor Drive, then north on Harbor to Washington Avenue, and will proceed east on Washington to Central Park for the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree. The tree lighting will include a carol sing with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Salvation Army Canteen will be on hand in Central Park offering hot chocolate and hot cider.
