Preparing tax returns is never fun, but some businesses are helping to ease the pain by offering freebies and special deals on Tax Day, which this year is April 17 (today).

Craving a pizza, sub or cold margarita to celebrate completing your return? You can find that and more in the list below. Many happy returns!

(Word to wise bargain hunters: Be sure to call the business first, to confirm that they are participating.)

JW's, 705 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, is celebrating Tax Day by offering 50 percent off bottles of wine all day today.

Fortino's, 114 Washington Ave., wants to help you celebrate the filing of your 2017 tax return by offering 17 percent off all beer and wine today.

Jumpin' Java, 215 Washington Ave., is offering $1 drip coffees and $1 off smoothies to commemorate Tax Day.

Applebee's: It's unlikely you can deduct them, but Applebee's is offering $1 margaritas, also known as dollaritas, through the end of the month.

Chili's: Here's another margarita deal for your Tax Day pleasure. Participating Chili's locations are serving up a $5 Cuervo Blue Margarita on Tuesday. No coupon necessary. Just ask your server for this Tax Day drink.

Chuck E. Cheese: Head to the land of singing stage animals Tuesday through Thursday; and, if you buy one large cheese pizza, you'll get a second free.

Cici's: Adult buffets are $4.17 on Tuesday. Head to the restaurant's Facebook page to find the special coupon.

Firehouse Subs: You'll get a free medium sub when you purchase a medium or large sub, chips and a drink. This special runs Tuesday through Thursday, but you must use the coupon that can be found on the restaurant's Facebook and Twitter pages.

Hungry Howie's: If you purchase a large one-topping pizza at the regular price on Tax Day, you can get a medium one-topping pizza for 15 cents by using the online promo code 18TAXDAY. The deal is for online carryout orders only.

Noodles & Company: Tuesday and Wednesday, you'll receive $4 off all online orders of $10 or more with promo code TAXDAY18.

Office Depot/OfficeMax: Now that tax season is concluding, head to Office Depot to shred some of your old returns that you no longer need to keep on file. Through April 28, you can shred up to 5 pounds of paper for free.

Quizno's: Stop in Tuesday and you'll get 10.40 percent off any purchase, including catering orders. And if you download the Quizno's smartphone app, you'll also receive a free 4-inch sub sandwich.

Schlotzsky's: If you purchase chips and a medium drink on Tuesday, Schlotzsky's will throw in a free small original sub.

Sonic Drive-In: All day Tuesday, Sonic features half-price cheeseburgers. This deal is limited to five cheeseburgers per customer.

Staple's: Head to the Staple’s website for a coupon that will give you the opportunity to shred up to 1 pound of paper for free, Tuesday through Saturday.
