Grand Haven house fire quickly extinguished

A house fire on the 1100 block of Pennoyer Avenue in Grand Haven was quickly extinguished early Monday morning. 

Officers from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety responded to a house fire at 1129 Pennoyer Avenue at 2:54 a.m., according to Director of Public Safety Jeff Hawke. 

Upon arrival, officers encountered heavy smoke in the basement and rear of the home. They also saw flames vented through a basement window on the northeast corner of the house.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the cause is under investigation.

There were no injuries.

The Grand Haven Township Fire/Rescue Department assisted on the call.
