GEORGETOWN TWP. — A Grand Rapids woman was ticketed for failure to yield after driving a bus full of students into the path of an oncoming car Thursday morning in Georgetown Township.

Neither the bus driver — Dawn Kent, 51, of Grand Rapids — nor the 19 students on the bus were injured, said Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the car — Sharon Miller, 62, of Jenison — suffered a sore shoulder and was treated at the scene.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Baldwin and Astronaut streets at about 8:25 a.m. Austin said the 2005 BlueBird school bus for Jenison Public Schools was turning from westbound Astronaut onto Baldwin and did not see Miller’s car, which was traveling east on Baldwin.

Miller’s car struck the side of the bus.
