ROBINSON TWP. — A 19-year-old West Olive woman planned to seek her own treatment for a leg injury following a crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 144th Avenue and Lincoln Street.

The woman was steering a Chevrolet Silverado that was being towed by a Jeep with a long strap, heading west on Lincoln Street. Police said the Jeep stopped at the intersection, and then turned south onto 144th Avenue shortly before 4 p.m.

A 2007 Lincoln, driven by a 29-year-old Nunica man, was eastbound on Lincoln when it stopped before proceeding into the intersection, where it collided with the towed truck.

The driver of the Lincoln said he did not realize that the truck was in tow behind the Jeep, police said. The Nunica man said it was raining hard at the time and he did not see the strap.

“The Jeep was through the intersection before the truck even started to move,” the Nunica man said.

Deputies said a crash investigator was called to the scene to determine who, if anyone, might be at fault.

The woman said she recently had the truck in the shop for repair, but had just lost the transmission and was getting a tow home.
