Leyara Potts was a front-seat passenger in a 2000 Ford Expedition driven by 46-year-old Robert Flournoy of Holland, said Sgt. David Vanderploeg of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
Flournoy was driving west on New Holland Street and failed to yield the right of way to a pickup truck pulling a trailer on 144th Avenue. The two vehicles collided at the intersection.
Police said the 1997 Ford pickup truck, driven by Samual Hansen of Hudsonville, had the right of way. Hansen, 47, was hauling a sailboat on a trailer.
Both Flournoy and Potts were transported by ambulance to Holland Hospital following the 10:37 a.m. crash. Flournoy suffered minor injuries. Potts was later transferred to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Vanderploeg said.
Hansen was not injured.
Police said everyone was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
