The class is free and registration is on a first come basis. There are limited spots available, and the deadline for registration is Oct. 13
Sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6-9 p.m. There is no class on Nov. 15.
Units include: disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, CERT organization, disaster psychology, terrorism and CERT and disaster simulation.
Participants are not required to become part of CERT, however information will be available to learn more about how to apply to become part of the team.
CERT is part of the Citizen Corps programs under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. CERT teams in Ottawa County are organized through the Ottawa County Emergency Management Office.
