Former Grand Haven standouts Tyler Vandenbrand and Anna Gagnon have continued to excel at the college level. Here’s the latest report on how the duo are faring at Muskegon Community College and Lawrence Tech, respectively. 

VANDENBRAND HEADED TO NATIONALS

Former Grand Haven standout and current Muskegon Community College sophomore Tyler Vandenbrand and Brenden Harris of North Muskegon will play in the NJCAA Division II National Golf Championships at Glenlakes Golf Course in Foley, Alabama, May 21-24. Both qualified May 14-15 during the NJCAA Region XII Championships at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, where Vandenbrand shot a 219 to tie for 10th place overall and Harris carded a 224 to tie for 16th. The Jayhawk team finished fifth in the region.

GAGNON NAMED ALL-AMERICAN

Former Grand Haven lacrosse standout Anna Gagnon was named to the second team of the NAIA All-American list this week for her stellar freshman campaign with the Lawrence Tech women's lacrosse team.

As an attack, Gagnon totaled 79 points with 56 goals and 23 assists. She also forced 27 groundballs and was not called for a single penalty the entire season. As a team, Lawrence Tech finished 18-2 overall and fell to top-seeded Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design 18-11 in the 2018 NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Invitational semifinal on May 11 at The Aquinas College athletic field in Grand Rapids.
