Kooistra to speak at Lighthouse Quilt Guild

• Nov 7, 2015 at 12:00 AM

Donna Kooistra, AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser, will speak to the Lighthouse Quilt Guild on Monday, Nov. 9, to help those in attendance better understand what is involved in the jurying and judging process, and the competitive process of a quilt show.

What does a judge look for? Why is binding important? Kooistra also appraises newly constructed quilts, antique, traditional and non-traditional quilts for insurance replacement value, fair market value, and donation value.

Those interested in having a quilt appraised should contact Su Palmer at 231-740-7104 to set up an appointment.

The Guild meets the second Monday of each month at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, 707 Sheldon St. in Grand Haven. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m. The meeting follows at 7. All who are interested in quilting are invited.

For further information, contact Connie Townsend at 616-846-2249.
