The Buccaneers poured on the attack against Jenison on Friday and came away with a 6-2 win over the Wildcats.
The team came out strong in the first period, scoring three unanswered goals to set the tempo for the game.
Austin Fox opened the scoring with an assist to his brother, Cooper Fox. Spring Lake’s Jake Johnson scored the next two goals with assists from Ethan Pennington on the first score and Brad Robertson on his second.
The second period was all Jenison, as the Wildcats took advantage of some momentum swings to score two straight goals and cut the deficit to just one goal entering the final period of play.
The Buccaneers found their groove again in the third, controlling most of the play. Austin Fox got his second goal of the game to start out the scoring in the third, while Trevor Kalis and Nate Beers also added goals to give Grand Haven their first conference win of the season.
On Saturday, the squad traveled to Kalamazoo to face Kalamazoo United.
Neither team lit the lamp in the first period, as both teams failed to convert on scoring chances.
The Buccaneers came out inspired in the second period of play, scoring four goals to take complete control of the contest.
Senior Branden Beeler netted three goals in the period to record a hat trick, while Jake Johnson also added a goal.
Austin Fox, Ethan Pennington, Kyle Eveland, Alex Kure and Trevor Kalis each added one assist.
Goalie Finn Bylsma picked up wins in both contests.
The Bucs’ next game is against Hudsonville on Dec. 15 at Lakeshore Sports Centre with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
