Holland police searching for shooter after victim drives himself to hospital

HOLLAND — At about noon Wednesday, police were called to Holland Hospital where a 25-year-old man drove himself to after he was shot in the chest.

The man reported being shot during an attempted robbery in the 300 block of Stratford Way in Holland.

He told police he was sitting in his car with a 20-year-old man near an apartment complex when they were approached by another man. The man demanded items from the victim and fired one round from a handgun, striking him in the chest.

The victim described the shooter as a black man between 18 and 22 years old, between 5-9 and 5-11 tall, with a medium build and dreadlocked hair. He was last seen wearing a baseball hat, black jacket and black Adidas pants.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
