Nobody was injured in the 3:25 p.m. crash.
An Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputy said that a Coopersville woman was driving east on M-104, slowed to make a left turn onto 130th Avenue when she was clipped by the large Foreway truck.
The truck driver, an Ohio man, was ticketed for failure to stop in time.
Police said the driver of the semi, which was also eastbound, realized too late that the car was stopping, tried to avoid a collision by swerving, but still clipped the car’s right rear quarter.
The driver of the car was able to move her car off the road. The semi jackknifed and went into the ditch on the southeast corner of the road, narrowly missing a utility pole.
Crockery Township firefighters directed one lane of traffic around the crash scene before opening the shoulder of the highway to westbound traffic.
John’s Towing was able to pull the jackknifed vehicle out of the ditch without further impeding traffic. You can watch video of that action on the Grand Haven Tribune Facebook page.
