GRAND HAVEN TWP. — A woman and a child escaped injury when their car went over a retaining wall at the Lake Trust Credit Union in Grand Haven Township on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the banking facility on the corner of Robbins Road and U.S. 31 shortly after 2 p.m.

Police said the woman had stopped at the credit union’s ATM, looked at her phone while pulling away and the car went over the wall.

The occupants were helped out of the vehicle.

Police said it was likely that the driver would get a ticket for careless driving.

Responding to the scene were Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies and Grand Haven Township firefighters.
