CROCKERY TWP. — The driver of a car that went off the road and through a fence at a Crockery Township nursery business Thursday morning escaped the crash without injury.

Emergency crews responded to Hortech Inc., 14109 Cleveland St., shortly after 6:30 a.m. Responding crews said the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Hortech official Bill Holmes said the driver told him that he was eastbound on M-104 and trying to pass a semi-truck when he lost control of his car and went off the road. The one-car crash occurred east of 144th Avenue.

Holmes said the black Ford Mustang took out about 30-40 feet of plastic lattice fence in the crash. There was also some damage to Hortech’s irrigation system, but Holmes said they are used to that. People seem to drive off the road in that area occasionally, he said.

Police had trouble finding the crash at first because the fence looked neatly taken down, Holmes said, and the car ended up behind another piece of fence.
