More than 100 runners raced around Harbor Island and Grand Haven on Saturday, helping raise funds for the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety’s Teaching, Educating and Mentoring program (formerly known as D.A.R.E.)

Morgan Harney was the first 5k runner across the finish line in a time of 20:53.3. Abby Snell finished less than two seconds later. J.B. Meeuwenberg was the first male finisher.

In the 10K race, Kyle Snell was the first to cross the finish line in 38:25.2. Erin Shibley was the fastest female finisher in the 10k, crossing the line in 45:29.7.

The event also featured a 1-mile kids run.

The T.E.A.M. program establishes positive relationships between students, law enforcement, teachers, parents and other community leaders. The program also teaches kids how to avoid substance abuse and violent situations online and in person.

All proceeds will help provide educational tools, materials and information to accomplish this mission.
