The Ottawa County Department of Public Health issued a no-body contact advisory Wednesday morning. The advisory is in effect for 1 mile east of the the U.S. 31 bridge to downstream in the Grand River to Lake Michigan.
Grand Haven/Spring Lake Sewer Authority informed the health department of a sanitary sewage release in the Grand River in that area.
“The advisory is effective immediately and will remain in effect until repairs have been completed and tested,” the statement reads. “The public should avoid body contact, particularly submergence of the head, with these waters until this advisory is lifted.”
