Homeschool theater group to present ‘Nicholas Nickleby’

Anonymous • Jul 21, 2015 at 10:52 AM

This play in two acts captures the essence of Dickens’ most theatrical novel with a parade of colorful characters: wicked Uncle Ralph, stylish Madame Mantalini, “decayed” Arthur Gride, pitiable orphan Smike, the winsome Cherryble brothers, lovely Madelaine Bray, scheming Lady Hawk, and the amazing Crummles with their seedy theater troupe. Standing above all the villains is the infamous Wackford Squeers, who — with his horrible wife and daughter — runs his dreadful school with his cane and tablespoons of foul-tasting medicine.

This event is made possible with the talents of more than 60 West Michigan homeschooled middle and high school students.

Performances are at 7 p.m. April 14-16, and at 2 p.m. April 15-16.

Tickets are $6 in advance or $7 at the door. Purchase them through Star Tickets Plus at 800-585-3737, or from Kathy Boyd at boydsnest7@pioneer.com or call 231-733-9456. Refreshments at intermission are included in the ticket price.
