Named for two historic Holland families, the Cappon & Bertsch Award recognizes workplace campaigns that achieve five criteria: an overall increase in employee giving from the previous year; at least three employees giving at the Lighthouse Leadership Level ($500); an average employee gift of at least $200; at least 50 percent participation in the campaign by employees; and volunteerism as a staff in the community or by a staff member or members with United Way.
The eight other workplace campaigns in Ottawa County that earned United Way’s Cappon & Bertsch Community Builder Award for 2010-11 were A.D. Bos Vending Services, Inc., Holland; Anderson Technologies, Grand Haven; Automatic Spring Products Corp., Grand Haven; Fifth Third Bank (county-wide); and Harbor Industries, Inc., JSJ Corp. and Shape Corp., all of Grand Haven.
