SL Township board to discuss fire protection agreement with SL Village

The original contract dates back to when the village dissolved its own fire department and merged services with the township.

A new provision of the contract states that if the township passes a fire millage in the future, the village will no longer owe the $15,000 per year.

Township Manager Gordon Gallagher said there is currently nothing in the works for a fire millage, but that it may become a necessity. It costs about $600,000 each year to operate the department.
