Once the job is posted, the city will begin to accept candidate applications. According to McGinnis, an initial candidate pool will be established following an Aug. 26 deadline.
From there, he said an initial interview selection process will take place. These interviews could include a mixture of panels featuring city staff and elected officials, as well as sessions that are open to the public.
Based on the approved job posting for the position, the anticipated salary range for the new director is between $68,450 and $89,180 a year, depending on qualifications and experience.
Capt. Rick Yonker is currently acting director of the department and — according to the approved recruitment language — is not a candidate for the position.
