“We’re crossing our fingers for the weather this year,” she said. “Last year was kind of icky.”

Wierenga said there will be plenty of activities for people of all ages. This includes games for children and adults, food and drinks, a Coast Guard 221st birthday cake, music by the Prevailing Winds and a clown. A beer tent will open at 1:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., the children’s activities will end, and there will be a talent showcase featuring local musical acts.

“There will be open mic for bands until 5:30 p.m.,” Wierenga said.

Once the open mic period ends, the festivities continue into the evening when bands Four Finger Five and Brown Trout Brown Chicken play.
