Comments will be received at the West Olive hearing on four nursing home proposals competing for approval in Ottawa County. The state has determined that not more than 95 beds may be approved in Ottawa County in total.
The four Ottawa County projects are:
— Grand Haven Care Center: a new 70-bed nursing home in Grand Haven Township for $5.2 million, or $74,157 per bed.
— North Ottawa Care Center South: add 25 nursing home beds in Grand Haven Township for $2.6 million, or $106,000 per bed.
— North Ottawa Care Center: add 45 nursing home beds in Spring Lake Township for $4.7 million, or $104,922 per bed.
— Spectrum Health: add a 70-bed hospital long-term care unit to Zeeland Community Hospital in Zeeland for $19.8 million, or $282,806 per bed.
The second hearing will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the Second Floor Conference Room of Coopers Landing, 1345 Monroe Ave. N.W. in Grand Rapids. Comments will be received at the Grand Rapids hearing on projects in five projects in Grandville, Greenville, Cutlerville.
The Alliance for Health will evaluate the nine proposals and make recommendations to the Michigan Department of Community Health as to which of the projects should receive a Certificate of Need to proceed with implementation. Comments received at the public hearings will be considered in the evaluations.
Anyone unable to attend a hearing may submit written comments to the Alliance for Health offices by Aug. 4.
