It features pirate programs on stage and throughout the park, including sword fighting, period music, storytime, theatrical productions, merchant booths and more.

The event continues Sunday, August 14 at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

New this year is the pirate parade on Saturday, Aug. 13.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite pirate wear and come out for a parade at 11:30 a.m.

The parade will march along the sidewalk of Central Park, around the fountain square, and end in the children’s area where a costume contest will immediately follow.

Other events sponsored by Loutit District Library and Brethren of the Great Lakes will bring the history of the golden age of pirates to life as re-enactors from all over the Midwest present a week’s worth of activities, Aug. 8-13. All events and activities are free.
