Changes coming to downtown GH parking

Once new signs are installed in parking lots near downtown along Columbus and Franklin avenues, motorists with a valid parking permit will not be restricted in where they can park their vehicles overnight. However, they will be asked to park in the easternmost parts of the lots to aid in snow removal and street sweeping.

“The real essence of the whole thing is to try and park where other people are parked,” McGinnis said.

From 3-6 a.m., no vehicles will be allowed in downtown parking lots without an overnight permit.

McGinnis said the new kiosk allows people who are visiting friends and family, or local restaurants and bars — and decide to stay overnight — to purchase a temporary permit to place on the car’s dashboard for $5.
