Anonymous • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:07 AM

To kick off the new program year, the society will host a program concerning Dutch traveler and writer Jacob Van Hinte and his journey throughout America in 1921. Nella and William Kennedy will talk about Van Hinte and his diary during the trip, and the recently released English language version of the original diary in book form.

The Holland Area Historical Society programs are funded through dues paid by the society’s members. Membership is paid annually; and costs $10 for individuals, $15 for families, and $5 for students and senior citizens. The society also has rates for nonprofit institutions, corporations and life memberships.

Subsequent presentations will be the history of Port Sheldon (Oct. 11), the Holland Interurban Line (Nov. 8), history of St. Nicholas (Dec. 13), “Envisioning Hope College Through Letters of Van Raalte and Phelps” (Jan. 10), history of the Ottawa County parks system (February 2012), DeZwaan Windmill (March 13), “Cappy” Capon (April 10), and the history of Centennial Park (June 12).
