Steve Nauta is running for second four-year council seat and recently appointed Councilman David Bennett is running for a four-year term.

Write-in candidate Bill Meyers is seeking the seat that is open due to MacLachlan running for village president. Meyers, 137 Stonegate Court, has lived in the village for seven years.

“I was interested in the local process and thought perhaps I could bring some fresh perspective, or at least a different point of view,” he said. “It’s real easy to sit back and take pot shots from the sidelines. I retired and thought this was the time to give back to the community as much as I can.”

Meyers, 58, is a retired air traffic controller. He said he’s interested in participating in decisions that affect the Grand River Greenway project.

“I think the council has done a good job with this village,” Meyers said. “I think they have it on the right direction. I just have some concerns with this Greenway project. I would like to be involved and I hope I can make a positive difference.”
