Meade said a weather buoy directly west of Grand Haven in the middle of Lake Michigan reported 23-foot waves at 4 a.m. and 21-footers as of 8 this morning.

Meade said the conditions are the result of a high pressure center over Lake Huron.

Grand Haven Board of Light & Power spokeswoman Renee Molyneux said this morning that a secondary line on Grand Avenue left a handful of residents without power. At about 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Henley Drive off Grand Avenue and part of Harbor Drive were without power, affecting 231 customers until midnight.

Consumers Energy spokesman Tim Pietryga reported 477 customers in Ottawa County without power this morning — almost 300 of them in the Ottawa Beach area near Holland.
