“I think it’s a very nice honor to be a finalist,” he said. “I have no idea who the other finalists are or what their qualifications are, but I’m sure they’re all very qualified.”
The township supervisor said he received an e-mail from the state about a month ago, encouraging him to apply.
Gov. Rick Snyder will honor the finalists at the Oct. 24 awards ceremony in Detroit.
Other nominees in the Lifetime Achievement Award category are Robert Bois of Flushing, Mary Hoodhood of Grand Rapids, Susan Schmidt of East Lansing and Jacklyn Skinner of Schoolcraft.
