Write-in candidate deadline looms for Nov. 8 election

Should a voter write in a name on the ballot for a candidate that hasn’t filed as a write-in candidate by Friday, Niotis said their vote won’t be counted.

There are already candidates in Grand Haven officially filed as write-ins, meaning voters choosing those candidates must be sure they follow the process correctly.

“If it’s not spelled correctly (the candidate name), it is up to the Board of Canvassers (to count the vote),” Niotis said.
