Saugatuck-Douglas merger petitions filed

AP Wire • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:12 AM

WOOD-TV reported the group turned in the petitions Wednesday to the State Boundary Commission in Lansing.

The Consolidated Government Committee needs 257 valid signatures to put the plan before the commission. That’s 5 percent of the combined population of the three communities.

The group said it submitted more than 400 signatures.

The commission could order the merger, reject it or put it on a ballot.
