Organizers say the event — which is free and open to the public — is aimed at “fostering community dialogue about austerity, debt and corporate greed.”

The local Teach-In will take place at the Grand Haven Community Center, 421 Columbus Ave., at 7 p.m.

Similar events are being held Wednesday in living rooms, libraries, community centers and church basements across the country, as people meet to dig into the roots of economic inequality in our country and discover how to work together to fix it — according to the event’s sponsors, the Progressive Women’s Alliance-Lakeshore and Restore our American Democracy, in concert with the Rebuild the Dream group.

Segments of “Inside Job,” a film narrated by Matt Damon, will serve to spark the dialogue. “Inside Job” is a film about the economic crisis of 2008 and the role of Wall Street in modern society.

The conversation will be moderated by Seth Koehler, international relations instructor at Muskegon Community College.
