Text amendments approved in GH Township

The Planning Commission held a public hearing for each of the five text amendments before unanimously approving them separately.

The text amendments that were approved Monday night were: replacing the definition of “grade,” removing “farm labor housing” as a special land use and allowing it as a permitted use, and eliminating the sections addressing flood hazards. Text amendments were also approved to allow non-church-oriented youth centers, as well as adult education as a special land use.

According to Township Manager Bill Cargo, the township has been approached by two developments — one that would teach adults college-level classes and a youth center that is not affiliated with a church — that do not “fit” in the current zoning ordinance. Cargo would not disclose which organizations or businesses approached the township.
