According to City Project Manager Julie Beaton, construction crews met their contractual obligation for below-grade utility work and paving for this fall.
Crews recently placed base-course asphalt from Y Drive to the Boardwalk Condominiums, and Georgetown Construction was able to install curb and gutter from the condominiums to the north side of the main entrance to the Grand Haven State Park. The company placed a base course of asphalt in this same section on Thursday.
“This is good news, as it is a section of road that was scheduled to remain gravel through the winter,” Beaton said.
There is also a plan under way to grade the road gravel from the main state park entrance to Prospect Street so Georgetown can pave the center 27 feet of the 33 feet of roadway in this section.
Beaton said the road will look similar to a county road, with 27 feet of pavement and 3-foot-wide gravel shoulders.
