WGHN morning duo enjoys their conversations

The pair do their best to inform listeners about what’s going on in their community.

"I don’t adhere to a script,” said Zerlaut, who is the news director for the local radio station. “When I’m on the radio, I feel like I’m having a conversation with people. People have been kind enough to invite us into their homes.”

Bruce, whose “Jesse in the Morning” show has been around since 2005, feels the same way.

“I don’t try to be a comic,” Bruce said. “I feel it is important just to be myself.”

Bruce and Zerlaut feel they complement each other with their different personalities.

“Jesse is really outgoing, and I’m more quiet and reserve,” Zerlaut said. “Our personalities balance each other, and that balance serves us well.”

One thing the pair have in common is that they are early risers. Zerlaut usually arrives at the radio station at 4:30 a.m. to prepare for his first local news broadcast at 6 a.m. Bruce arrives at 5:45 a.m. to prepare for his four-hour morning that begins at 6 a.m.
