The women’s group met recently to award its second grant of its funding cycle to Out Side In, which uses horses to help people improve their self esteem, confidence, coping and problem-solving skills.

The donation will specifically go toward the Horse Power/Girl Power initiative, a program for teenage girls in the Tri-Cities area who have been affected by domestic violence.

Approximately 325 women have signed commitments to support this endeavor, translating into more than $32,500 given to Out Side In.

“Words cannot express our gratitude, said Jennifer McVoy, drector of Out Side In. McVoy, a member of the 100 Women group and presenter on behalf of her organization, said in response to winning the grant: “It’s such an exciting time for Out Side In!” “I am so excited to be part of an organization of so many intelligent, successful, caring women! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support and encouragement,” she said.

The group — 100 (or more) Women Who Care — is an alliance of women whose purpose is to help charitable organizations in the Tri Cities by streamlining fundraising. Since September 2010, the group has awarded more than $178,500 in funding to local agencies and will continue to significantly impact those agencies devoted to improving both the community and the lives within it.

The group is open to all women who will commit to giving $100 quarterly for at least one year.  For more information on 100 (or more) Women Who Care, call Cindy Anderson at 846-7981.
