GH planners OK special land use for new transmission repair shop

The city’s Planning Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved a special land use for Sheila and Jeff Curtis to open Finishline Transmission at 200 N. Beacon.

Commission Chairman Cecil Bradshaw said he was impressed with what the Curtises were trying to do with the site.

“They’ve done a really nice job of taking a site and trying to make it look decent,” Bradshaw said.

Sheila Curtis said she was excited to begin work at the new Grand Haven location; and intends to run the facility with her husband, Jeff, who will also have a hand in transmission repairs.

The Curtises said they operated a Montcalm County repair facility for six years before selling it. Jeff said he had 30 years of repair experience, with transmission repair experience since 1997.

The Curtises said they tentatively to plan to open their business sometime next month.
