Barber School bell could be ringing again

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Barber School, 102 W. Exchange St.

It was the wish of donor Betty DeWitt that the bell ring, according to Village Manager Ryan Cotton, but the current configuration does not allow for sound.

Village Council members in August said they would be in favor of the bell ringing at a set time of day – if it is not cost-prohibitive and not offensive to neighbors.

The estimated cost of recording the bell and manually ringing it every day by pushing a button is $7,300, according to quotes compiled by village intern Eric Alexander.
