Lighthouse deeds on agenda for Tuesday GH City Council meeting

Council will be asked to approve a quitclaim deed with the government that would give the city sole ownership of the Grand Haven entrance and inner lighthouses.
Grand Haven Lighthouse Conservancy President Dave Karpin said he was grateful that City Council is going to be considering the deed transfer and was hopeful it would be accepted so work could begin.
“Once the deed has been transferred to the city, then the conservancy can get in there and make the repairs that are needed,” Karpin said.
The goal of the conservancy group is to get the two lighthouses in a condition in which they could be opened for tours and interpretive exhibits for the public.
“Fundraising has been started (for the project),” Karpin said.
The council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 519 Washington Ave.
