Underhill, 40; and Randy Purcell, 59, also of Grand Haven, are part of a group of about 20 people who call themselves the Rat Pack. Any one of them may be seen at the Spring Lake Township park on a regular basis.

Underhill said everyone in the group are members of the Professional Disc Golf Association. He competes in the masters division and Purcell participates in the grand masters division.

“We compete monthly starting in March,” Underhill said.

Actually, there was a competition over the weekend in Grand Rapids, but both men said they were not planning to participate.

“We do play Sundays in Whitehall,” Underhill said. “We’re going to the Amateur Worlds in July in Charlotte, N.C.”

Underhill explained that the disc used in the golf game is smaller than the standard Frisbee.
